About This Class

Explorer Robotics FLL team

First Lego League (FLL) is one of the world's leading youth robotics competitions, engaging students in Grades 4-8 in science, technology, engineering, and math. Explorer Robotics has been competing in FLL for years, with teams regularly advancing to regional and provincial levels.

FLL is built around three pillars that teams must balance throughout the season:

  • Robot Game — Teams design, build, and program an autonomous LEGO robot to score points by completing missions on a themed field. Each year brings a brand new theme and set of missions.
  • Innovation Project — Teams identify a real-world problem related to the season theme, research it, and develop an innovative solution. They present their findings to a panel of judges.
  • Core Values — FLL emphasizes discovery, innovation, impact, inclusion, teamwork, and fun. Judges evaluate how well teams demonstrate these values throughout the competition.

This class runs twice a week and prepares students for the FLL Regional Qualifier. Strong performers may advance to the provincial and national championship levels.
