Panama City, Panama – October 2025 — Two Teams from Explorer Robotics Club in Whitby, proudly represented Team Canada at the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) Americas Open Championship 2025, earning 2nd and 3rd place in the Future Engineers – Self-Driving Car category for Canada. The Silver Medal Team included JAT Jayden Li, Syed Arham Wasti, and Trevor McAskin, while the Bronze Medal Team BEES featured Harry Xiao, Elvis Wang, and Ryan Rao.

The WRO Future Engineers category is a prestigious global robotics competition designed for students aged 14–22. Teams are challenged to design, build, and program fully autonomous vehicles that tackle real-world engineering problems. The competition encourages innovation in autonomy, sensors, control systems, decision-making, and system integration, mirroring the complexity of real-world automotive and robotics industries.

Explorer Robotics Club – Inspiring the Next Generation of Innovators
Explorer Robotics Club is a youth technology and innovation community based in the Durham Region, dedicated to inspiring students to explore the world of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) through hands-on robotics projects and real-world challenges for students from Gr. 4 to Gr. 12.

From LEGO® robotics and Arduino programming to autonomous vehicles and artificial intelligence, students at Explorer Robotics learn to design, build, and code robots that solve real problems. The club emphasizes creativity, teamwork, critical thinking, and perseverance, helping students develop both technical and leadership skills.

Each year, Explorer Robotics teams proudly represent Canada in prestigious international competitions such as the World Robot Olympiad (WRO), earning national recognition and international awards. Beyond competition, the club serves as a supportive learning hub where youth of all ages can experiment, collaborate, and grow — turning curiosity into innovation and passion into impact.
